You must be a registered Exchange Participant of AIESEC in your home country to be eligible for internships or traineeships through AIESEC United States. Please contact AIESEC in your country (or the country closest to you with an AIESEC presence) and ask about their internship exchange programs. Additionally, please use the visa eligibility information below to see you if you’d be able to acquire the visa.

J-1 Visa Requirements

 

AIESEC United States provides these exchange experiences using the J-1 Intern and J-1 Trainee Visas. The type of visa used for an internship opportunity depends on the needs of the hosting company.

 

J-1 Intern (3 – 12 month internships)

 

To qualify for this visa, you must be a foreign national who is currently enrolled and pursuing studies at a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States or is a recent graduate of a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States. The date of graduation may be no more than twelve months prior to the proposed program start date.

J-1 Trainee (3 – 18 month internships)

 

To qualify for this visa, the participant must be a foreign national who has either a degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution and at least one year of prior related work experience in his/her occupational field acquired outside the United States or have five years of work experience outside the United States in his/her occupational field.
